Clueless Joe

Like any good reactionary, Joe Miller is doing his best to take us backwards. His claim that you can't vote for a candidate unless you can spell her name correctly is a throwback to the literacy laws that kept blacks from voting in the South for a hundred years.

Once again, the people screaming the loudest about "democracy" and "the Constitution" seem to be the ones who understand neither.

Much as I dislike this guy though, I would like to see these Diebold voting machines first - hand count their results (at least partially) to see if reports of their errors are correct or not, and second - scrap the things.

This guy is a paranoid, but he could have a point about rotten elections (didn't seem to bother him when he was winning) with these machines. Anything that gives us confidence in our voting results I'll support.

As for trying to throw out voter intent (minor misspellings) - he can kiss my ass.

It's incredible. We invented the car and now we can't make one, we invented democracy and now we don't know how to run an election.

There is definitely less support for Miller in Juneau than in other parts of the state, but I believe that he was honestly defeated and he should go away.
If we knew how to rig an election down here, Don Young would have been put out of offce years ago.
