If people weren't suffering, it would be downright humorous. More and more Alaskan doctors are refusing to accept Medicaid and Medicare--they'll only take cash or bill private insurance companies.
In other words: Workers are having money deducted from their paychecks for government-assisted medical care and getting nothing in return.
And we still have fools in Washington who claim that the system isn't broken!

Apologies if this is repeating (I seemed to have misplac ed my previous comment somewhere in this blogodome). Something to the effect that Jefferson would probably puke if were able to see the country today. So many people are still trying to make 21st realities fit into a fairytale 18th century world view. The only uniting of the united states occurs when a common enemy is confronted, which really hasn't happened in over 60 yrs. As Al Franken says, Bush had the chance but he blew it in favor of partisan political gain & egotistical compulsion. As we all know, the system is broken, has been broken a long time, and the only people who can change it are the same ones vested in keeping it the same. Getting people out in streets is all but impossible. As we've discussed before, if people aren't motivated by what's happened in the last 5 yrs., what would? The only thing I've been able to conceive of, is a federal law passed that would outlaw cable t.v.
